9th Mar 2020. Jyotiraditya Scindia, a major Congress leader, tendered his resignation from the party along with some 22 MLAs. Though he has not mentioned joining BJP, but his meeting the top national BJP leaders all but confirms that. The one and half year old Kamal Nath led Congress government is likely to fall due to this at the earliest.
To remind here, the election results is 2018 were quite close and Congress took the lead to form the government along with the smaller parties, while BJP sat in the opposition after three terms, or 15 years of power.
The current strength in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly is as follows:
Jyotiraditya Scindia lost the Assembly elections and hence is not a current MLA. Apparently he was being sidelined in Congress party from prospects like Rajya Sabha nomination or Pradesh Congress Chief posts. His actions seem to be a fallout of such incidents.
